AE Bucharest Hub’s Book Series: Reflections on (In)Humanity
Starting in 2026, in keeping with its strategy of global outreach and with its interdisciplinary intercultural academic agenda, the AE Bucharest Hub sponsors the book series, Reflections on (In)Humanity, edited by three MAEs: Sorin Antohi (Bucharest), Chun-chieh Huang (Taipei), Jörn Rüsen (Bochum). The series is published since 2012 (its first volumes were co-published with National Taiwan University Press) by V&R unipress, part of De Gruyter Brill.
For centuries, defining humanism as a universal normative horizon has been at the core of many cultural, religious, philosophical, ideological, legal and political paradigms. However, human dignity and most other universal values have often been challenged, manipulated, diluted or annihilated, leaving humanism and its proponents disoriented, insecure, discredited.
The book series aims at a (self-)reflexive, open-ended, intercultural humanism, engaging the past and present diversity of human experience, in search of a higher common ground for the future.
Forthcoming:
Melanie Ellis, Grzegorz Wlaźlak, eds., Various Visions of Smart Cities: The Linguistic Perspectives.
Anna Wileczek, Marzena Marczewska, eds., From A to AI: Language, Discourse, Society and Artificial Intelligence.
